Homemade Flour Tortillas

Ingredients

  • 2 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 3/4 cup Hot Water not boiling

Instructions

  1. In large bowl combine dry ingredients, using whisk to mix baking powder and salt in well.

  2. Add oil and hot water until a soft dough is formed.

  3. Knead by hand for approximately 5 minutes or in an electric mixer for 2-3 minutes.

  4. Place dough in large greased bowl, cover with towel, and let rest for an hour.

  5. Divide dough into 8-10 equal balls.

  6. Preheat cast iron pan over medium heat.

  7. Rolling the tortillas - roll dough out on a lightly floured surface. Tortilla should be about six inches.

  8. Place tortilla on preheated cast iron or skillet. Heat for 30 seconds, flip and heat for another20-30 seconds.

Recipe Notes

Keep cooked tortillas covered with a towel.

Serve warm or store remaining tortillas in an airtight container.
