Gardening in the desert during the summer is a gamble at best. I kept it very small this year and I am having more success than last year!
I had 3 4×4 beds originally, but the soil I picked up from a local quarry was more mud than soil; alas nothing grew there. I will be pulling that out and using a mix of compost and organic garden soil for fall planting.
Please excuse the state of my yard…we’re still working on functional and attractive. ;P
Now on to the report!
The tomato bucket experiment is coming to a close.

Golden Jubilee – I did get a few good and super tasty tomatoes off this plant. They were much smaller than I was expecting. I did have a few with blossom rot but that was corrected with some egg shells.

Sweet potatoes grown from my pantry. There was NO yellow last week so we’ve decided that these have been over-watered. I think they’ll come back strong with a day or 2 off.

Green Bell Peppers – these have really grown in the last few weeks. Those 3 are nearly tripled in size. The other 2 are finally starting to show some growth.
