Hubby’s Contribution

September 1, 2013 by Tiffany Davis 3 Comments

Some of you may remember me saying that my yard/garden/homestead looked a lot less American Gothic and a lot more Sanford & Son Farm Edition.

Well I mentioned to my husband that I wanted a little nicer looking “fence” for my 4×4 boxes.  I showed him a few pictures on the internet and nothing more was said.

I went to a baby shower yesterday and took my girls with me so Troy (aka the hubs) could have a bit of time to himself.  I assumed a great deal of napping or reading had taken place…but I was wrong.  I came home to this!

The top and bottom are 4 foot pieces of 1×2 furring strips.  The sides are the same furring strips, 2 feet tall.  Together we fastened the green garden fencing the the frame with zip ties.  And viola – a lovely little fence to keep the dogs out.  A bit of bird netting on the top may be required.

The fence is not connected to the box so it is easily removed for working in the garden. We had the green fencing left from other projects so the fence was built for less than $9.00!

I like the look compared to our PVC pipe hoops.  One down…two to go!
