Well there you have it, everything you can plant in August for zones 1 – 10. Are you as excited to start your Fall garden as I am???? What do you plan to start this month in your garden?
I too, live in pic. Mostly have brown thumb, but grew sweet potatoes last year. Can I grow anything in the same pot?
Don’t know what zone pic is..
Use this link to find out your zone – https://planthardiness.ars.usda.gov/PHZMWeb/ You can grow something in the pot after sweet potatoes – check out crop rotation here – https://imperfectlyhappy.com/crop-rotation/
I never even thought about fall gardening- it’s always been planting for fall *color interest. I live in a borderline 5-6 zone-
To make sure I’m reading and understanding correctly, these are all started from seed?
Yes, all seeds.
Even peppers? Direct sown????
Definitely depends on the zone but yes, for more areas this should be fine.
Can I grow beets in a pot?
Sure – bigger the pot the better. You can do 6 – 9 beets per square foot.
What is the zone for ky

Can you explain peppers in August in zone 5/6?
They need heat. If you started them as seedlings and transplanted them to cinder blocks, they might live. Otherwise, no.
Thanks for the tips on vegetables. Are there any flowers that I could start in zone 6 that would come up for the fall I need some color in the garden while I wait for Mums?
THANK-YOU, MY FIRST GARDEN
So excited to hear that! Congratulations!

Which type of squash can be started for a fall garden in zone 6? Would this be a quick summer type or a winter squash?
When you say fall, what dates are we talking, and are you put seeds in the ground or starter pots
I live in zone 9b
It really depends on the plant. Root vegetables, for instance, need to be sown directly in the ground.
Where are the zones? Is it divided throughout the country? Like by weather and temperature?
Take a look at the link – it will show you.
I am new to zone 8A. I had problems with heat and burning sun and the red soil. I have seeds still and am trying to plant them in August under sun shade and in planters. I was so happy to see your site and hope we can keep in touch with your tips. Your new follower in…… St George, Utah!

I live in zone 10A and want to start my very first garden in raised beds. Would the types of veggies I can grow differ if I start from plants vs seeds? I have no problem going to the store and buying something that has already started growin (ex: tomato plant). Thanks!
You can do either. Seeds offer more variety because you can buy from many different locations. But there are a slower process. I do both.
I am from India what plants can i grow i have a little place in my back yard
Hi Noory! I am not familiar with growing a garden in India but if I can grow in the hot desert of Phoenix I believe you can grow too! I found this link that may give you some help. https://gardeningtips.in/vegetable-gardening-calendar-in-india-a-full-guide Best of luck to you on your gardening adventure!!!
Hey Tiffany what squash can be planted zone 7 )Oklahoma and is it seed planted? Or plants? Can you plant most of the stuff you listed if it’s seed? Or do we need to start send inside in August?
You should be able to plant both winter and summer squash. You’ll probably have better luck with transplants this late in the season. Also be sure to take measure to protect your garden from early frost. Here is more Zone 7 info – https://veggieharvest.com/calendars/zone-7.html
