Free apron patterns…what could be better? I have a love for aprons and keep a collection of them that I love to use for all sorts of tasks from cooking and cleaning to gardening. I am not a great seamstress so I prefer to find patterns that are easy to sew or no sew aprons.
So I have collected some of my favorite free apron patterns for you. These are great for many of your homestead chores. The free apron patterns include both easy to sew and no sew option so be sure to look all of them over before you decide if you have the skill for them.
But be careful you don’t get a bit of an apron addiction started or you’ll be looking for pegs all over your house to store them!
Free Apron Patterns
Apron #1 – Dish Towel Apron
This free pattern takes any cute dish towel and ribbon to create a waist apron that is both cut and functional. Perfect for when you are whipping up something in the kitchen and need a place to quickly wipe your hands.

Apron #2 – Harvest Apron
A harvest apron makes gathering up your garden goodies easy without carrying anything; which leaves your hands free for working. You are basically wearing a washable basket on your waist.
It, of course can double as a cooking apron when needed – just untie the the cords and let the bottom come down.

Apron #3 – Up-Cycled T-Shirt Apron
I love a good up-cycle project and this awesome t-shirt apron is no exception. Sure you could use it for cooking but I think this apron would be better suited for crafts (even for the kiddos). But, if I can be honest, I’d wear this one out and about! I love that you can make this very personal for a gift too. And the best part? You don’t need to sew!
Skill Level – No Sew.

Apron #4 – Bandanna Apron
I am going to tell you something, that not many outside of my family know…I wear bandannas. Yep, and mainly when I am cleaning or gardening. They are great to keep hair out of your face, and sweat. But how funky and fun is the bandanna apron? Great for crafting, cooking, gardening or whatever. If you using it for the kitchen, remember it isn’t thick so it won’t help if grease splatters on you!
Skill Level – No Sew.

Apron #5 – Gathering Apron
This is another apron meant to help you gather your harvest from the garden. But this apron has deep pockets instead of ties. I love the fabric choices that the author used for this…we so often sacrifice our style for functionality. Easy to customize to fit your liking. This one won’t take up much room either.

Apron #6 – Up-Cycled Retro Pillowcase Apron
Another too-cute-for-words apron…who doesn’t love a little retro?!? I can almost see myself wearing this to clean right before hubby comes home from a long day at the office (wearing heels and pearls, right?)…I said ALMOST. But seriously a pretty apron can make a less desirable job a little less sucky.
You can even get the pattern to make a matching pot holder.

Apron #7 – Convert Men’s Shirt Apron
Here is another opportunity to take something that may be headed to a yard sale or thrift store and re-purpose it for another use. You can take a man’s dress shirt and with a few cuts you’ll have a apron that is original and fun to wear. If you don’t have a sewing machine to finish off the raw edges you could use fusible web (which would make it a no-sew project).

Apron #8 – Easy Square Apron
If you can manage to cut or at least acquire a piece of material in the shape of a square – you just about have an apron. This no sew apron is easily adjustable so you can make it to your size and height requirements. This might be one of the fastest aprons you’ll ever make.

Apron #9 – Levi Apron
The great thing about making an apron from a pair of jeans is that you’ll get a super durable and thick apron. This is great for grilling, cooking with grease or mucking out the coop…your choice really. How small or big you want the apron really depends on the jeans you use to make it.

Apron #10 – Bath Time Towel Apron
Man oh man could I have used this when my babies were little. An apron to wear while you give your babies or toddlers bath and wrap them up to dry after. I love it! Might be good for bathing your pup too!

Apron #11 – Egg Gathering Apron
Ok, I’ll admit, I tend to gather eggs in my t-shirt. But occasionally we have a bit of poo on the eggs and I don’t really want to make breakfast in that same shirt (another reason to wear your aprons). But how freaking cool is this little egg gathering apron? One pocket for each egg (better for small flocks than a big production).

Apron #12 – Kid’s Apron
Now we can’t leave the kids out of the apron appreciation! This little apron is perfect for crafts, helping in the kitchen or even the garden (though a pocket would help there).

Apron #13 – Bib Overall Apron
As far as fashionistas are concern, overall are in and out of style all the time. But farmers and homesteaders know that a pair of overalls can be a workhouse for you. But how about a pair of those overalls converted to a functional apron? Don’t you just love it? She even includes a no sew option!

Apron #14 – Vintage Pillowcase Vendor Apron
This vendor apron is a little retro and fun but could be super helpful if you run a booth out of your homestead; or go to a farmer’s market. “A perfect to hold money, business cards, etc- and the flap keeps everything secure! Use it when you’re a vendor at a festival or market… during your summertime yard sale… or at your school’s next bake sale!”

Apron #15 – BBQ Apron with Rivets
Ok, most of the aprons I posted today wouldn’t interest the homestead guys. But this one just might be right up his alley! A apron accented with rivets for grilling on those warm summer days! I am totally digging this. You will need a tool for adding the rivets to this one.
