Homemade ice cream is a mixture of cream and/or milk, sugar, sometimes eggs and always a little home cooked magic! Sure you can buy just about any flavor of ice cream at your local grocery store; but there is something truly special about homemade ice cream. Not only the fresh rich flavors, but I love to customize it with my favorite mixtures of nuts or berries or both. I know the kids love cookies and cream ice cream or pieces of fudge mixed in.
Now that summer is in full swing these homemade ice cream recipes will be a real treat. Try making some for your 4th of July celebration or bbq too!

You may be very surprised how easy it is to make ice cream at home. I have found that investing in a good ice cream maker has made it an even more enjoyable process. I now prefer my fully automatic ice cream maker but there are more budget friendly options as well.
