How to make all natural hand sanitizer with essential oils is the topic of the day. But perhaps we should go over why you shouldn’t use most of the commercially produced hand sanitizers first.
Let me tell you a few of the reasons I gave up on traditional hand sanitizers.
They Can Actually Lower Your Immunity:
I knew about this for awhile but after I battled MRSA I really started researching super bugs, immunity, etc. Sure these cleaners can kill harmful bacteria and germs but they also kill of the good bacterial that is beneficial to our bodies. When the good stuff is killed off your body becomes more susceptible to the germs that make you sick. Crazy, right?
Too Much Alcohol:
Most of the commercial sanitizers use alcohol to kill “harmful” pathogens. They are generally 60% alcohol which is MORE than hard liquors! All this is being absorbed into your skin and your children’s skin. AND if accidentally ingested it could really do some damage.
Bad For The Skin:
That alcohol is hard on your biggest organ…your skin. It messes with the oil production with cause dry skin. Prolonged use of these sanitizers can can skin to age faster (aka wrinkles).
This is because alcohol is a skin irritant, which disrupts your natural oil production causing both dry and flaky skin.
Those just a few of the reasons I avoid commercial hand sanitizers but I encourage you to do some of your own research on the topic.
