Jojoba Oil
Equipment Needed to Make Bath Bombs

There are adorable bath bomb molds out there but I’m keeping this budget friendly by using what I have in the house.
I like to use a mini-muffin tin for a mold because I feel like it holds up better than silicone, but you can use silicone if you want a fun shape.
This bath bomb recipe should make 3 – 4 dozen bath bombs depending on the mold you choose.
How to Make DIY Bath Bombs
Mix baking soda, Epsom salt, cornstarch, and ginger, in a medium-sized bowl.
In jar or small bowl, combine water, molasses, and jojoba oil. This will take a bit of effort to mix well since you are combining water and oil.
Once liquid ingredients are well mixed, pour the liquid mixture into the bowl of dry ingredients.
Use your hands to combine and squish together. The mixture will seem quite dry, but that’s okay.
Add the citric acid. It may begin to fizz a bit. This is just the citric acid reacting to the moisture.
Fill each mini-muffin section with bath bomb mix. You will want these to be slightly overfilled. Push down to pack the bath bomb mix in. You want this as compact as possible.
Leave overnight to harden. Depending on the moisture and humidity in your home, you might find they have “risen” a bit overnight. This is fine. If you have packed them well, you will be able to pop them right out of the muffin tin or mold.
This is optional, but I like to leave them out of the mold overnight, so they are 100% packed and dried.
How to Store DIY Bath Bombs
Be sure to store the Gingerbread DIY Bath Bombs in an air tight container.
For even more longevity wrap each bath bomb in plastic wrap first. This will also help them to retain their shape.
How to Use Gingerbread Bath Bombs
To use, add 1 – 3 bath bombs to your warm bathwater. The Epsom salts are healing and the citric acid and baking powder will add a nice fizz to your water. Enjoy the scent of fresh gingerbread while you relax!
Why Did My DIY Bath Bombs Crumble?
You didn’t pack them tight enough – make sure you firmly pack your molds.
You didn’t have enough moisture – follow the recipe exactly, this shouldn’t be an issue. If you still do try adding a tiny amount of extra oil.
You didn’t let them completely dry – make sure you allow plenty of time for the bath bombs to dry out in the molds before you remove them.
Making DIY Bath Items
I love making simple DIY projects for myself and as gifts. Making DIY Bath items are great because you control the ingredients. Many bath products are full of chemicals you don’t want seeping into your skin during a bath!
I hope you enjoy making, using and giving these Gingerbread DIY Bath Bombs!
