This grain free oatmeal is a great “cereal” for those following a grain free, gluten free or even low carb eating plan. I love my eggs and bacon but sometimes I just want a quick cereal in the morning. This recipe for grain free oatmeal fits the bill and fixes my cravings! And it is super nutritious to boot!
In the summer time the last thing I want to do is stand in front of a hot oven to cook up a hot breakfast everyday. I love that this mix can be pre-made and used like an instant oatmeal. You can customize the flavors to suit your tastes too; can’t beat that.

1 cup Flax Meal (Like this)
1 cup Unsweetened Coconut, shredded (Like this)
1 cup of freeze-dried or dehydrated fruit (Like this)
Combine all the ingredients in a mason jar or other airtight container. Give it a bit of a shake before using each time so the ingredients are well mixed. This will make a batch for several individual servings.
- Combine a 1/2 cup of the grain free oatmeal with 1/2 – 3/4 cup of hot water in a bowl
- Stir and allow it to sit and “cook” for about 3 minutes
- Stir again and sweeten and flavor
I like to add some organic stevia and cinnamon. My kids love it with cinnamon and pure maple syrup
Other options might be some coconut palm sugar, chopped nuts, fresh fruit, raisins – the options are limitless.
- Add in a bit of cream or coconut milk
- Eat and enjoy!
