  • Time-saving: The pressure-cooking feature reduces cooking time without compromising flavor.

Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 60 minutes

Instant Pot Cheesy Lasagna Recipe step 1

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 tablespoon of Italian seasoning (or your preferred blend)
  • 5 oven-ready lasagna noodles (If using dried noodles, blanch in boiling water for 3 minutes)
  • 1 cup pasta sauce
  • 1 1/4 cups grated cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 12 oz cottage cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instant Pot Cheesy Lasagna Recipe step 2

Directions:

  1. Brown the Ground Beef: Set your Instant Pot to the sauté setting. Once hot, add the ground beef and season with Italian seasoning. Brown the meat thoroughly, breaking it up as it cooks.
  2. Add Pasta Sauce: Once the meat is browned, stir in your favorite pasta sauce. Let it cook for about 1 minute, ensuring the meat is well-coated with the sauce.
  3. Drain and Set Aside: Remove the meat sauce from the Instant Pot and drain any excess grease.
  4. Prepare the Springform Pan: Spray a springform pan with oil. Cut the lasagna noodles to fit the bottom of the pan, then layer them evenly.
  5. Layer the Lasagna: Start layering by spreading a portion of the meat sauce over the noodles. Then add cheddar cheese, mozzarella, and cottage cheese. Repeat the layering process two more times. Finish with a layer of noodles and the remaining meat sauce.
  6. Cover and Cook: Cover the pan with aluminum foil. Place a trivet in the bottom of the Instant Pot and add 1 cup of water. Set the springform pan on the trivet. Pressure cook on high for 40 minutes.
  7. Release the Pressure: Allow the pressure to naturally release for 10 minutes. Then, manually release any remaining pressure.
  8. Broil for a Crispy Top: Carefully remove the lasagna from the Instant Pot and place it under the broiler for 5 minutes to brown and crisp the top.
  9. Top with Parmesan and Rest: Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top and allow the lasagna to rest for 20 minutes before serving. This helps the layers set and makes it easier to slice.

Instant Pot Tips for Lasagna Success

  • Use a Springform Pan: A springform pan works best for lasagna in the Instant Pot because it allows for easy removal and prevents sticking.
  • Avoid Overfilling: Be mindful of the layers and make sure your springform pan is not overfilled to prevent spillage during cooking.
  • Foil Cover: Covering the lasagna with foil while it cooks helps trap moisture and ensures even cooking throughout.
  • Broiling for Texture: After pressure cooking, don’t skip the broiling step! This creates a crispy, golden-brown top, making your lasagna irresistible.
  • Natural Pressure Release: The natural release of pressure helps the lasagna retain its moisture, giving it a perfect texture.
