Homemade Jewelry Cleaner Recipe

January 26, 2021 by Tiffany Davis 8 Comments

This simple and easy to make homemade jewelry cleaner is how I keep all of my jewelry clean. You’ll only need a few ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen.

Homemade Jewelry Cleaner

With only 4 household ingredients, this DIY jewelry cleaner is a frugal option too. I like that it doesn’t use harsh chemicals or ingredients.

Most of my jewelry has been handed down to me by my grandmother and I wouldn’t want to use anything on it that could potentially damage it.

Using clean ingredients on jewelry is better for me too; I don’t want gross chemicals on my skin!

Get ready to clean your gold jewelry and silver jewelry to a sparkly shine.

What Ingredients You Need to Make Homemade Jewelry Cleaner

  • Table Salt
  • Baking Soda
  • Castile Soap
  • Water
If you have hard water you may want to use filtered for this recipe.

Equipment Needed to Make DIY Jewelry Cleaner

  • Glass Measuring Jar or Small Bowl for mixing.
  • Small Jar to hold mixture like a mason jar.
  • Toothbrush or other soft bristled brush (optional)

Remove from mixture, run under warm water, and gently scrub and clean with soft bristled brush (I often use a soft toothbrush), if desired.

Rinse well with hot water and thoroughly dry the jewelry pieces with a soft cloth.

Discard cleaning solution mixture leftovers.

I do not use a piece of aluminum foil, though I know others do. I have not seen a need for it as this makes my jewelry perfectly clean all by itself.

Variations for DIY Jewelry Cleaner

  • Use mild dish soap instead of the castile soap (like blue Dawn)
