What is seasoning salt?
Homemade seasoned salt is a blend of salt and savory seasonings to make the perfect one stop spice. You can add flavor to just about any dish.
Can’t I just buy seasoned salt in the store?
I prefer to make my own DIY seasoned salt because the store bought varieties often have unnecessary ingredients, additives or preservatives. Look at your favorite brand, it probably has sugar and/or cornstarch in it (totally unneeded).
I can also make a lot more for the same or less than the cost of the name brand seasoning salt.
How can I use homemade seasoned salt?
It really is a multipurpose seasoning. Most people think of seasoned fries but this blend is great on meats, veggies, rice, eggs, quinoa. The only limit is your imagination! You can even make your own Chex Mix with this blend.
Try it on my Roasted Chicken Thighs for dinner tonight!

What spices make up seasoning salt?
- Himalayan Pink Salt or Sea Salt – I like a chunkier grain but a fine grain will work too.
- Black Pepper – I prefer a finer grain for the pepper
- Paprika – a powdered spice usually a deep orange-red color and mild flavor (change it up with smoked paprika, my personal favorite)
- Celery Salt adds a earthy flavor (or try it with some homemade celery powder)
- Garlic Powder for a punch of taste (make your own garlic powder)
- Onion Powder another good general seasoning simply made from dehydrated onions.

Fun Additions to Homemade Seasoned Salt
- Add oregano, basil and rosemary for an Italian Seasoning blend variation.
- Make a spicy version of your seasoning salt by adding some crushed red pepper flakes and cayenne pepper.
