Ingredients You’ll Need to Make Cheeseburger Soup
- Lean Ground Meat – While ground turkey is a great lean option, it’s fine to use ground chicken or ground beef, depending on what you like best.
- Onion – Dice your onion into small pieces before using it.
- Potatoes – Grab your favorite potatoes, such as russet potatoes, and dice them into cubed pieces.
- Condensed Cheddar Cheese Soup – Adding this soup to the mixture will add more of a cheesy taste.
- Heavy Cream – Use the heavy cream for flavor while making the soup a bit thicker.
You’ll also need water, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and shredded cheese. Although optional, you may want to use a bunch of chopped green onions to use as garnish when serving your soup.
How long will it take to make the soup?
When preparing your Instant Pot Cheeseburger Soup that serves a minimum of four people and up to six people, expect it to take around 45 minutes from start to finish. You’ll spend roughly 15 minutes prepping the ingredients and then an additional 25 minutes preparing the soup before you serve it.
Are there any other ingredients I can add to this recipe?
Yes. Some people like to add chopped cooked pieces of bacon or bagged bacon bits into the mixture for that smoky flavor that bacon brings to the dish. In addition to bacon bits, feel free to add diced pickles to your soup!
What can I do if I don’t have heavy cream?
If you don’t have heavy cream, you can substitute it with half-and-half or a combination of butter and milk. These alternatives work well and will help you create a creamy and delicious homemade Instant Pot Cheeseburger Soup for loved ones.
Can I make this on the stove?
If you don’t have an Instant Pot, you can prepare this on the stovetop in a large pot. Of course, it may take slightly longer to prepare the soup because the Instant Pot works at a faster pace using pressure to cook the ingredients.
