Homemade Marshmallow Creme Recipe

January 28, 2021 by Tiffany Davis 12 Comments

Homemade marshmallow creme recipe is going to be your new favorite! If you like store bought marshmallow cream or fluff, you’re going to love this easy recipe!

homemade marshmallow cream or creme (fluff)

It is marshmallow creme, marshmallow cream, marshmallow fluff? These are all pretty much the safe product. Fluff may be a bit denser overall but they are used the same way and taste identical.

What is marshmallow creme?

Marshmallow creme is a marshmallow-like spread. It tastes like a creamy, smooth version of a solid or spongy marshmallow.

What is marshmallow creme used for?

Well it is best known for being part of the Fluffernutter Sandwich; made with peanut butter and fluff or cream. But you really can use it in a variety of different ways.

  • Use it in homemade S’mores
  • Make Homemade Whoopie Pies with Marshmallow Cream
  • Try it as a cupcake filling or frosting, it is amazing with chocolate cake!
  • Use it as a hot chocolate topper
  • Make some Rice Krispie Treats with it.
7 oz of marshmallow creme can be used in place of 4 cups of mini marshmallows.
  • Eat it with a spoon… just saying.

If you’ve loved marshmallows or marshmallow fluff in the past I think you’re going to really enjoy making your own from scratch. It is surprisingly easy to make and only takes a few ingredients.

Does marshmallow fluff have gelatin?

No, no gelatin here. In fact it is considered a vegetarian recipe.

Is there a sub for the corn syrup? It is terribly toxic.
Otherwise, this looks like a winner! I want to make a butterbeer recipe for my grandson and several of them call for marshmallow fluff

You could try agave nectar but I don’t know if it would have the same consistency.
