Instant Pot Halloween Popcorn Treat

October 4, 2020 by Tiffany Davis 2 Comments

Halloween Popcorn Treat or Monster Munch Popcorn from your Instant pot. It is the perfect October treat for the whole family.

Fast and easy – you’ll make this right in your Instant Pot.

Halloween Popcorn from the Instant Pot sits on a white dish with fall colored napkin to the side. Spilled Reese's Pieces in the background.

Halloween Popcorn Treat Recipe

This yummy sweet and salty treat is a great snack and no bake dessert to enjoy while you watch your favorite scary Halloween movie.

Our family favorite is Hocus Pocus but the scariest adult movie, for me, is definitely The Shining. Do you like to watch a scary movie for Halloween or have any other traditions?

This Halloween treat would be great for future parties, get-togethers and pot lucks too.

Is Popcorn Healthy?

This recipe definitely makes popcorn into a dessert or sweet treat but most nutrition experts consider popcorn a healthy snack option.

Popcorn in the Instant Pot?

Did you know you could make popcorn in your Instant Pot? It is so much better than microwave popcorn; it reminds me of the way we made it as a kid on the stovetop. Fast, easy and better flavor – winner!

Instant Pot Halloween Popcorn Treat Recipe

A printable version will be below.

Equipment & Supplies Needed:

  • Instant Pot
  • Cookie Sheet
  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Microwave Safe Bowl
  • Parchment Paper (not wax paper)

Ingredients:

  • 2 TBSP Coconut Oil
  • 1 TBSP Butter
  • ½ cup of popcorn kernels
  • 1 bag Wilton Candy Melts Orange Color
  • 1 package Wilton Candy Eyeballs
  • 8 oz Reese’s Pieces Peanut Butter Candy
  • ¼ cup chocolate sprinkles

Directions:

  1. With the Instant Pot set to Sauté mode, wait until it becomes hot.
  2. When it comes hot, add in the coconut oil and butter. Stir occasionally to make sure it melts.
  3. Add in your kernels and stir well to make sure each kernel is coated with the oil and butter mixture.
  4. Place the lid on the Instant Pot, and set the valve to OPEN, keeping it on sauté mode.
  5. Set a timer for 5 minutes and allow the popcorn to pop.
  6. While the popcorn is popping, melt your chocolate. Place the chocolate in a microwave safe bowl, and microwave for 30 seconds at a time, stirring after every time in the microwave. Continue to do this until chocolate is completely melted. You can use a double boiler if you prefer.
  7. After 5 minutes, turn off the sauté function by pressing cancel. A few of the kernels may continue to pop, so please be careful.
  8. Place the popcorn on a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  9. Pour the orange chocolate over the popcorn. Mix well.
  10. Add randomly the eyeballs, Reese’s Pieces, and chocolate sprinkles. Add as much as you want and enjoy this spooky treat!

Variations to the Halloween Popcorn

I love the fall colors and the little eyeballs in this Halloween Popcorn but if you wanted to skip the eyeballs for just an Autumn popcorn you wouldn’t miss out on the flavor.

You can make this a Thanksgiving snack popcorn by taking out the edible eyeballs and replacing them with some candy corn or m&ms.

Or make it a Christmas themed popcorn by changing up the candy melts to red and using Christmas M&Ms (try the peppermint!) instead of the Reese’s Pieces with red and green sprinkles.

How to Store Leftovers of Halloween Popcorn Treat

If you’re lucky enough to have leftovers you can store it in an air-tight container or bag. Just make sure it is completely cooled first. Should stay fresh for 7 – 10 days.
